We live in a time of broken relationships. People
sense the awesome fear of being alone.
At Our Saviour, we desire to provide
small, caring communities (Small Groups) through which we can experience
and share care and concern. It's through these small groups that
we witness to each other, and to people around us, as we fully experience
God's presence in our lives.
Our Vision
"To provide a place where the
Christian message finds meaning and relevance for life."
Jesus said, "A new command I give you: Love
one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you love one
another." (John 13:34-35)
It is our vision that in a dysfunctional and fragmented
world, the community that grows within our small groups may be a
beacon of hope through which people can experience Christ's love.
Our Goal
"To provide an experience where life is the
very best God meant it to be."
Jesus said, "I have come that they may have
life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
It is our goal that as people experience and are
nurtured in Christian love, they may encounter the life changing
power of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, that though this encounter
they may understand the depth and height of human possibility."
Small Group Leader's Purpose
Statement
"To influence each small group to live the
vision of Our Saviour, A Place of Hope, as it applies to the group."
Jesus demonstrated the influential role of Christian
leadership in the Upper Room on the night he was betrayed.
"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord', and rightly
so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have
washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have
set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I
tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is
a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know
these things, you will be blessed if you do them." (John 13:13-17)
God has gifted individuals differently. It is our
goal to help leaders recognise their unique gift and to use that
gift to influence those around them.
Great Quotes on Small Groups
"Those who want to be Christians in earnest
and who profess the gospel with hand and mouth should sign their
names and meet alone in a house somewhere to pray, to read, to baptise,
to receive the sacrament, and to do other Christian works."
- Martin Luther
"Whenever two or three of you come together
in my name, I am there with you." - Jesus (Matthew 18:20)
